Our Program Mission
The Central Valley WIC Dietetic Internship will provide a community-focused dietetic internship that fosters the development of entry-level, multicultural registered dietitian nutritionists, who promote healthy lifestyles and improve the nutritional status of Central Valley residents through education and support.
Our Program Goals & Objectives
1.) Program graduates will be competent in the practice of dietetics. 
  1. At least 80% of graduates complete program/degree requirements within 4 years for MS/DI track, and 2 years for DI only track (150% of the program length).
  2. 80% of program graduates will take the CDR dietitian credentialing exam within 12 months of program completion.
  3. Of graduates who seek employment, 80% are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation.
  4. The program’s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%. 
  5. 90% of graduates at 1 and 2 years after successfully completing the program, will rate as "satisfactory" or better their response to the following question on their "Survey of Intern Graduates": "How would you rate the internship program's ability to prepare you to assume the responsibilities of an entry-level registered dietitian in your organization?"
  6. During their first year of employment, 80% of program graduates will be rated “satisfactory” or better in a “Survey of Employers of Intern Graduates”, in response to the following question: “How well was the graduate prepared to assume the responsibilities of an entry-level registered dietitian in your organization?”
  7. Percentage of diverse graduates completing the Central Valley WIC Dietetic Internship will be ≥ 50%.

2.) Program graduates will communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and will be culturally sensitive registered dietitian nutritionists.
  1. 90% of graduates will rate as "satisfactory" or better the following questions on their "Exit Survey of Dietetic Internship Program by Intern": "How would you rate the internship program's ability to prepare you to effectively communicate verbally?", "How would you rate the internship program's ability to help you develop good written communication skills," and "How would you rate the internship program's ability to prepare you to work effectively with multicultural populations from diverse backgrounds?"
  2. 90% of graduates at 1 and 2 years after successfully completing the program, will rate as "satisfactory" or better the following questions on their "Survey of Intern Graduates":  "How would you rate the internship program's ability to prepare you to effectively communicate verbally?", "How would you rate the internship program's ability to help you develop good written communication skills?", and "How would you rate the internship program's ability to prepare you to work effectively with multicultural populations from diverse backgrounds?"
  3. During their first year of employment, 90% of graduates will be rated "satisfactory" or better in a "Survey of Intern Graduates" in response to the following questions, "How would you rate the graduate's ability to verbally communicate effectively?", "How would you rate the graduate's ability to write effectively?", and "How would you rate the graduate's ability to work effectively with multicultural populations from diverse backgrounds?"​​

3.) Program graduates will choose to live and work in the Central Valley for at least 2 years after fully completing internship requirements.
  1. 60% of graduates at 1 and 2 years after successfully completing the program, will indicate on the "Survey of Intern Graduates" that they are currently working in the Central Valley of California.
