The Central Valley WIC Dietetic Internship currently offers two tracks:
Track 1: Combined Master's Degree/Dietetic Internship Program, in collaboration with Russell Sage College, for applicants who need a fully online master's degree and an on-site dietetic internship;
Track 2: Dietetic Internship Program, for applicants who already have a master's degree.
More information about each track can be found here: MS/DI Program, and DI Program. CDPH WIC employees can also apply for rotation hour credit for WIC experience through our Prior Assessed Learning Program. This program recognizes the value of WIC work experience, and can shorten the total number of rotation hours by several weeks. More information about the Prior Assessed Learning Program can be found here.
Admission requirements for both tracks include current employment with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) WIC Program, and six months of WIC experience prior to the application deadline, (January 11, 2023). Applicants must also have a verification statement, indicating they have completed a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Program.

"The structure of your program is awesome, with just two classes at a time. I think this is the best way to set it up, because you get to work and prepare for your rotations. It's more manageable than I thought it would be. I did a lot of research, and your program has been so flexible." - 2022 MS/DI Intern
Five MS/DI Interns from the Central Valley WIC Dietetic Internship, (Nhan Chau, Rachael Johnson, Karen Lopez, Christian Mandel, and Luz Ventura), met with Representative Jim Costa's staff in August to raise awareness about the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act. Jim Costa is the U.S. Representative for California's 16th Congressional District. During the meeting with Legislative Aide Kit Devine, the interns presented information about the Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Act. Discussion topics included MNT as an effective way to manage chronic health conditions, and how the MNT Act will benefit Californians.
