We started with our first class of interns in 2004. Our program was created to help address the shortage of registered dietitians, specifically in WIC Programs, across the southern half of California's Central Valley. Our graduates were quickly hired for positions in all areas of dietetics: community, clinical, food systems management and beyond. We were encouraged by our stakeholders (which included our preceptors, employers and program graduates) to grow a little more. In 2014, we expanded from four intern positions to six intern positions, and our graduates continued to successfully find employment throughout the Central Valley and California. Our latest growth comes as we transition to an MS/DI Program and collaborate with Russell Sage College. On this page is our program flyer. Our emphasis continues to be providing a community-focused program that fosters the development of entry-level, multicultural registered dietitian nutritionists, who promote healthy lifestyles and improve the nutritional status of Central Valley residents through education and support.
