The Central Valley WIC Dietetic Internship is a 48-week, full-time program with an emphasis in Community Nutrition. The internship provides a wide variety of classroom and supervised practice experiences to ensure that all of the core competencies and requirements set out by the American Dietetics Association and the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education are met. These core competencies provide a strong foundation in dietetic knowledge and practice - keys to future career mobility. Competencies in the areas of 1.) Community Nutrition, 2.) Clinical Nutrition, 3.) Food Service Management are all part of the curriculum. Classes are held weekly at the Reedley WIC Regional Training Center and include lectures by internship staff and guest lecturers. Classes also incorporate group discussions and hands-on training to build both knowledge and skills in the application of dietetics |
