The Central Valley WIC Dietetic Internship Program is using the on-line centralized internship application, DICAS, which may be accessed at https://portal.dicas.org ; email: DICASinfo@DICAS.org DICAS will be available after August 2, 2010 for the Fall Match. The on-line application must be completed for our program no later than 11:59 p.m. Central Time on September 24, 2010. The fee to use DICAS is $40 for the first application submitted and $20 for each additional application.

When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an e-mail address) for each reference. This will trigger an e-mail message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed on-line. Students submitting more than one application will need to use the same individuals as references for each application.
Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal statement. Our program is asking applicants to address the following 6 items, (the first 4 are from DICAS, the last 2 are from our program):
o Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
o Discuss experiences that have helped to prepare you for your career.
o What are your short-term and long-term goals?
o What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?
o What other information do you consider important for the selection decision?
o Describe any challenges you have faced on the path to becoming a Registered Dietitian.
o Where would you like to work after you become a Registered Dietitian, (in what geographical area), and why?
Applicants must also register online for computer matching at www.dnddigital.com and select dietetic internship priority choices by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on September 24. There is a $50.00 computer matching fee.
Applicants must mail copy of TOEFL results to Dietetic Internship Coordinator (required if native language is not English and applicant did not graduate from a college or university in the United States.) Applicants must mail a non-refundable $25 application fee made payable to "United Health Centers." Only cashier's checks and money orders will be accepted. We cannot accept personal checks.
